Hill Top Primary serves the community of Edlington in the south west of Doncaster.
The school has achieved many awards over recent years including: The Inclusion Mark, Arts Mark Gold, Basic Skills Quality Mark and Investors in People. It was named by the DFE as the 8th most improved school in the country in December 2008. In November 2011 the school was graded as outstanding by Ofsted and was awarded National School Status in July 2012. In December 2012 the school was named in the Ofsted Annual Report as being an outstanding school; it is one of the top 200 schools out of the 16000 throughout the country to receive this accolade. This is true evidence that the school has achieved rapid and sustained improvement.
Ofsted inspectors recognised that the school truly lives up to its motto of ‘Every Child, Every Chance. Every Day’ The Headteacher, Mrs Beryce Nixon said “ we believe that all children, regardless of where they live or what their parents can afford for them have the right to a good education, and that belief is at the heart of what we do at Hill Top Primary School. Being named in the Ofsted Annual Report as an outstanding school validates all the tremendous hard work that goes into making us such a successful school. Whilst we enjoy our success, our sights are on continuing to achieve even higher results and to be a leading school across Yorkshire and beyond”
The Children at Hill Top Primary School enjoy a wide range of enrichment activities which enables them to explore their talents and passions. The School Choir is one such opportunity that welcomes children to express themselves musically. The children get a great deal of enjoyment from being in the choir, they are enthusiastic, passionate about music and love to sing and perform. They rise to any musical challenge and attempt the different genres with gusto. The School choir is very well known around Edlington and has been invited to perform at several venues within the community, for which they always receive outstanding praise and an invitation to return.
